The Process of God Consciousness
(Yes, It Is a Process)
Coming to God Consciousness or Self- Realization for many people is as simple as picking up a Bible, the Torah or Talmud, the Koran, learning the passages and their teachings inside and out and doing their best to follow the expectations and imbibe its essence into every cell of their beings. Others that are not drawn to the more traditional religions embrace words and teachings from their more modern day spiritual teachers, and then do the same, using their minds and hearts to expand into what they understand their teachers are sharing about. At some point all of these aspirants have to step into the lessons and become them.
The Buddhists and the Hindus seek to experience God in the formless or in everything all around them, and sometimes both. They follow practices that help transmute the mind and ego that are designed to prepare them for enlightenment. They understand it may not happen in this life, and for most of them, that is fine. They are patient and understand it could take a few lifetimes, gaining good karma through their sadhanas in each life until they are ripe enough for their turn.
Yet there are a small minority of others for which none of this is enough. They hold the never-quenched, relentless desire to understand and experience God as the Absolute. They are not seeking words of faith and wisdom, or a path to follow; they understand that there exists a state of their Beingness in which there is no separation from God itself. They long to be united in the selfless consciousness state where the Divine flows through every cell of their body and leads and guides their experience on Earth. They are pawns put into play by a higher awareness that precedes the mind and ego. These individuals believe they are guided by the Soul’s Journey more than the many aspects of the world around them.
Many of them have had the great fortune to experience something that they consider so Divine that their perceptions and then lives were shifted on a new course and now little else is as important as this pursuit. That singular thing that was sampled, be it perfect expansive stillness, unconditional bliss and joy, or the mindless state that brings forth sojourns into space and time beyond our current paradigm has awakened a sleeping giant that I believe lives deep within all of us. Some people treat this as an end goal, but really this is where the work actually begins. Bliss or any of these feelings is a sense, and a symptom that displays one is on the right path, but it is still of the body/mind, and not consciousness itself.
For these seekers, nothing is as important as knowing themselves as the state of God-Consciousness, being one with the Creator. Because we all have had so many different experiences and hold different viewpoints and perceptions, even the pursuit is vastly different for everyone, but it all leads down the same path. We must transverse the human experience of life through mostly our senses and align to our greater experience that is still possible to happen through the human body, in its most expansive means – as our Soul.
God-Consciousness Aspirants understand that their exquisite glimpse into the Divine is not an end point, but simply a lure that was sent to drive them to crave more. These profound seductions tease and tantalize a person’s energies into a natural resonance that systematically steps forward when our thoughts, emotions and body awareness recedes. This is our natural Soul’s state, and the spiritual path is our way to get back to it. We don’t do; we undo. We let go of anything and everything that keeps our minds and emotions focused on worldly imaginations and distractions. It’s not fun work, it’s certainly not easy work, and most of all we can’t do this while meditating in the proverbial cave. We still have to mitigate and manage the world around us. If we have had the luxury of pulling back from the world to focus only on our spiritual deepening, we will find that when we return to the world we will unconsciously recreate anything that still needs clearing. It works that way for every single one of us.
The good news is that the more self-work we do, the easier everything else seems to get. We become clearer after just a little work, and seeing our tangible results makes it easier to keep going. Our mind is sharper, our lives are easier, and the heaviness that may have plagued certain aspects of our lives starts to release its tight grip.
After a few years of this journey, we see the pitfalls and learn how to dive into every situation that calls for awakening. We no longer ignore or think we can bypass any of them, and there are hundreds, or sometimes thousands. We go deeper, and soon we see that the entire Universe of Conscious Existence is conspiring for us to wake up because it delivers the next and the next and the next opportunity for clearing, understanding that anything and everything that comes into their lives as people, situations, and occurrences is specifically orchestrated to bring us deeper.
At some point, the magic happens. Not only is the Conscious Universe dropping the next thing to work through, we find that opportunities, miracles, and synchronicities show up as well, to make it easier and quicker to get to the other side of each challenge or opportunity for clearing. At this point we will find that we are closer to our goal than not. The scales have tipped and there is less to clear and more to enjoy. We know so deeply that the Universe is in control, succinctly and personally for each one of us that we trust everything it brings or doesn’t deliver, and if our desires are not filled, we know something more aligned is on its way. Life becomes more abundant, heart-filled, and our focus has shifted from less on ourselves to more towards others.
Awakening into God Consciousness truly is a process, and there are no shortcuts. Even the Self-Realized Masters and Gurus had to put in the work, and each of them are happy to share what their process was. They can guide and steer you from the other side of the process because they understand the pitfalls and act as an energetic catalyst to help, but they can’t do it for you. We have to simply dive in. Anywhere can become the starting point, and we should use anything, anyone, and basically everything that comes our way to wake up. It is all personally manifested and perfectly orchestrated to guide the Soul’s Journey home.
